Look at all of those TurboChips™! I will pretend that I was aware of their real name. We have been fortunate to see a large portion of the TG16 library made available on the Virtual Console. I never saw these in stores except for when someone brought one into Software, Etc. to sell. It was always that “system with Bonk” when I was in middle school. 1up’s Retronauts have a great feature on the 20th anniversary of the system as well as an accompanying podcast (Link goes to MP3 file).

Welcome! Today’s post is about a lesser-known cartridge-based expansion system: the Aladdin Deck Enhancer developed by Codemasters and distributed in North America by Camerica Games. If you are familiar with the Game Genie then you will understand the basic premise of this device. You plug cartridges into one end and then put the whole works into your Nintendo. Turn the system on and BOOM: the game is now enhanced! Right? Not exactly, but just like the 32X it sounds good on paper.

The Sega 32X, Part 2

Well, here it is. The Sega Killdozer. Look closely and you might see a Sega Genesis model 2 in the photo. Trust me, it’s there. If you happened to own the original model of the Genesis then you could use a special attachment so that it didn’t hang over the edge of the Sega CD. Yeah, as if this gargantuan system needed additional crap snapped onto it.
